COVID 19 SAILING (2/12/2020)
As of 2nd Dec 2020, Luton is operating under Covid 19 Tier 2 Regulations. This means that Luton & District Model Boat Club will be operating under the 'Rule of 6' set of Covid rules. The rule states that a maximum of six people will be allowed into the compound at any one time. If you wish to sail then you must BOOK A SLOT with the SECRETARY to do so. Please be aware that if you have a pre-existing condition, or are in a vulnerable group and suffer with chest, heart, lung or liver problems or, are over 70, especially with any of the above, then we seriously urge you, DO NOT ATTEND. This is for your safety as the Club CANNOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY if you wish to do so. For the moment, the Committee have drafted a set of temporary additional rules.

1. All tables must be at least 2 meters apart.
2. We request that ALL members WEAR A MASK within the compound, especially when talking to another person.
3. Members MUST NOT congregate in groups however small and KEEP at least 2 METERS APART at all times.
4. Rescuing another boat is fine but otherwise, please avoid touching boats or equipment other than your own.
5. If you sail, you and you alone are responsible for your own table. Please disinfect and put away after use.

For full clarification, please read the latest version of Covid 19 Sailing Rules(Issue 4). Please refer to the temporary changes above when reading. Click here.

The Club was originally formed as a scale model boat club. We now, however, cater for modelling of all types, not just for boats. There is a high level of interest in scale and non scale sail. We have an active steam group as well as a small nucleus of ’fast electric’ members.

The Club meets for sailing every Sunday morning from about 10am on the lake in Wardown Park, Luton, Bedfordshire. The lake facility is brought to us by the kind offices of Luton Borough Council who take an interest in our activities and are always keen to assist our endeavours in every way possible.

The Club holds regular evening meetings on the second Monday of every month. The venue for these meetings is the Bushmead Community Hub. The Community Hub is off Hancock Drive on the Bushmead Estate, Luton, just off the A6 out of Luton in the direction of Bedford. Postcode is LU2 7SF. Meetings start at 7:30pm prompt until 9:45pm.

The Club has strong ties with other model boat clubs throughout the region and is an active participant in all the local and national modelling shows.
